Dr. Dipti Bavishi is an experienced gastroenterologist who has been in practice since 1995. A gastroenterologist is a physician that deals with disorders of the digestive system and the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The GI tract is the region through which our food is digested and absorbed. This tract is frequently divided into two portions: upper and lower. The upper GI tract includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine (known as the duodenum). The lower GI tract includes the other two parts of the small intestine (known as the jejunum and the ileum), the large intestine, and the anus. In addition to managing conditions involving the GI tract, Dr. Bavishi often deals with problems involving the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
